This evening will end my period of presence in the laboratory. Usually I spend a little time in this period to take a look at unread imporant paper. This year, i take at home the following :
Some books related to the image comparison and similarity:
- Preference, belief and Similarity: Selected Writings by Amos Tversky and Eldar Shafir,
- Exploratory Image Databases by Simone Santini,
- Similarity Search - The Metric Space Approach by Pavel Zezula, Giuseppe Amato, Vlastislav Dohnal and Michal Batko.
Some articles:
- two papers by David Lowe (Distinctive Image Features from Scale-Invariant Keypoints and Object recognition from local scale-invariant features) in order to study in detail the SIFT interests points extraction, a paper of Tony Lindeberg (Scale-space theory: a basic tool for analyzing structures at different scales) describing the scale-space theory, starting step of the SIFT method. The objective is to let my thoughts running on the adaptation of the SIFT method to binary images. When back to the lab, late august, i will complete the reflexion with a more intensive bibliography search.
- some articles on similarity theories in psychology, including Toward a Unified Theory of Similarity and Recognition by F. Gregory Ashby and Nancy A. Perrin.
My schedule also includes:
- finalize the bilingual transformation of this web site (translation of old posts),
- GREC workshop at La Rochelle in late july,
- finish a poster for Jerôme for the MCBMS conference.
I wonder if this will hold in the few weeks of "holidays". If history repeats itself, only a small fraction of my program will be held.
FMN.
